Roller Ball Pen Made From An Original Spitfire Propeller
Roller Ball Pen Made From An Original Spitfire Propeller
This is the finest of our Roller Ball pens in our collection. The barrel and lid of this exquisite pen has been machined from a section of decommissioned WWII Spitfire propeller blades in our propeller works and has the serial number of the blade from which it was made engraved. It comes in an English oak presentation box with a sliding lid.
Developed by Hordern Richmond in the 1930’s, the material of the blades is called hydulignum, fine veneers of birch compressed together with a resin to create a very strong yet light material for propeller blades. The metallic components are machined from stainless steel here in England and given a subtle brushed finish.
A fine piece of precision engineering and aviation history, this is a very special pen that will always be treasured.
